We accidentally did not write our name and could not do so after realizing as you were not there and we had to hand it to Mr Marc Chong, and if we took it back from him, he would not wait, because lots of other people wanted to give it to him too. Therefore, we wanted to give you a short description of it so you can recognize our sculpture.

It is an angel spray painted golden, with a container full of straw hearts attached to the back. it has glitter everywhere on the whole body, and the head has no facial features(we thought it would look better like that, simple and plain.) It is in a big yellow recycling bag.

With these descriptions, we are sure you can find our angel quite easily. Sorry again for any inconveniences caused.

Short Descriptions for Our Sculpture

We build an angel sculpture to encapsulate our theme ‘Love for Sister’. At the end of the story, Caddy helped Saffy to put her angel back as one piece and this shows the great bond between the two sisters. The angel therefore would be the main/first idea we had in mind. We made use of paper-mâché, which is a construction material that consists of pieces of paper, stuck together using a wet paste, to build our sculpture. This method allows the resulting material to be cut, and painted, and waterproofed by painting with a suitable water repelling paint once it turns dry. Therefore, enable us to complete our sculpture within a week.
She feels that the angel is important to Saffron, therefore she bothered to overcome her fear and drive all the way to the dilapidated house where their grandfather used to live in to check whether the angel is there. Also, she spent a lot of effort as she went all the way there despite the fact that she did not know truly if the angel was present. After retrieving it, she brought it all the way back to fix it spending weeks to put the sculpture back together for Saffron hoping that the angel would help Saffron. Therefore, Caddy thinks that the angel is important, otherwise she would not bother wasting so much time and effort or risking her 'life' to drive there to get the angel back to the banana house.
The angel is made by paper-mâché where newspaper is being used. This means that we are using recycled materials to do it. The glue is made up of flour and water, and does not pollute the environment. Caddy, an aspiring zoologist would not want the environment to be polluted. Thus, we used this method to build our sculpture. We then spray-painted our sculpture gold like mentioned in the book, and the paint is CFC free. Not only that, we added in the straw hearts in a ‘basket’ that represented Caddy’s love for her sister. The usage of multi colours straw meant Caddy’s love for Saffy in every way, which she did.
We feel that this sculpture is appropriate in describing Caddy. Firstly, in the story, Caddy helped to fix her adopted sister, Saffy’s angel back. Also, to make it represent Caddy, we sprayed the angel gold in colour as in the story, Caddy helped Saffy’s to spray it into gold colour after fixing it for her. Not only that, Caddy showed love for her sister by fixing the angel for her, this in turn encapsulated our theme ‘Love for Sister’. Even though they are not real sisters, their relationship is still very close.

Mrs Boy, we did not put up any pictures for the sculptures because we left in school accidentally. We will hand it in to you during our break on Monday(maths paper). We are very sorry for any inconveniences caused.

Short description of the photo collage
We are using the character Cadmium, in the book Saffy's Angel to do this photo collage. We feel that all the photos are highly appropriate, and quite self-explainatory. We choose to print out the hamster photos biggest, as we think that the most/second most important thing to Caddy was her hamsters and guinea pigs. Also, we took a picture of somebody, trying to paint the hamster feets, as mentioned in the earlier part of the book. Also, 'generations of hamsters came and went' so therefore, we found a box, around the house and used it as a coffin as for the hamster.(there was no dead hamsters) There was also a pile of books, and a maths note pasted on the window, for when she had to study for her GCE exams. Also, there were two signs which we only used , as they are connected to Caddy. We used 'WE ARE GOING TO WALES' as it was Caddy who drove them there. We also used 'SHE HATES TURNING RIGHT' because this told us about her, and therefore represented Caddy in some way. There is a picture of clouds and sunlight on a patch of grass. This picture was put in because we have disscussed what Caddy's personality is like, and we think that Caddy is like the photos, warm and cheery and fresh(this means that she is original)(for the grass picture)and very carefree(cloud picture). There are 2 pictures of car related itams, the sign and the car. This is because the focus on Caddy in the later part of the book focused more on caddy and her driving lessons and not so much about the hamsters anymore. The sign was put into the photo collage because, she usually does not pay attention, and ends up going the wrong way on a one way road. We would not be very suprised if the book included a scene where Caddy is fined for parking in a parking space for fire engines.

Individual work: (poem)

A mum who cares,
A mum who shares.

A mum whom I am proud to claim,
A mum that's around me everyday.

She has the smiles of sunshine,
A heart of pure gold.

Her sacrifices for me selflessly,
Acts like a dearly angel to me.

Surely, a kiss for me,
Serves like a bliss to me.

Your patience for me,
Reflects your love towards me.

I deeply appreciate everything,
And I will never forget anything.

So I will always try to help you,
As a form of saying thank you.

Description: The two graceful swans represent me and my mother. She stays behind me all the time giving me countless support so as to ensure my safety. Also, my mother resembles an angel, therefore above her, I drew a loop of ring. Moreover, her actions are really selfless.Furthermore, her contributions and sacrifice made are really incredible. Her patience towards me really touched me deeply. Although, i am moving slowly, she is willing to accompany me. Soon, the sun in the background is touched to tears upon witnessing such a touching and rare scene. Lastly, I love my mother.

Watercolour Painting Tips @ 11:32 PM

Some water colour painting tips...

BLOCKING COLOURS

A water color painting apparatus for painting the surface of an article comprising a plurality of color blocks each of a different color, each of said color blocks being of the same construction, a support structure, attachment elements connecting said color blocks to said support structure in side-by-side spaced relation and with said color blocks projecting therefrom and with an upper surface supported in substantially outwardly spaced relation to said support structure and locating said upper surfaces of said color blocks in a spaced aligned relation, at least one brush member having a head adapted to span a plurality of said adjacent color blocks, said head including an inner stabilizing element of a substantially rigid construction and having an outer application edge, said stabilizing element having a handle portion, and an outer cover of a water absorbing material covering said stabilizing element including said outer application edge and adjacent portions of said element, said brush being operable upon moisturizing of said cover to span said color blocks and absorb the colors from said outer surfaces for simultaneous transfer of the colors to the article without transfer of color from one block to an adjacent block and whereby liquid transferred from said brush onto said block flows downwardly over the block to prevent transfer of color material between the upper surfaces of said color blocks, wherein said color blocks are mounted on said support structure on edge and extend upwardly therefrom a substantial multiple of the thickness of the color blocks.

Washes
The most basic watercolor technique is the flat wash. It is produced by first wetting the area of paper to be covered by the wash, then mixing sufficient pigment to easily fill the entire area. The pigment is applied to a sloping surface in slightly overlapping horizontal bands from the top down. Once complete the wash should be left to dry and even itself out - don't be tempted to work back into a drying wash, the results are usually disastrous!
A variation on the basic wash is the graded wash. This technique requires the pigment to be diluted slightly with more water for each horizontal stroke. The result is a wash that fades out gradually and evenly

Glazing
Glazing is a similar watercolor technique to a wash, but uses a thin, transparent pigment applied over dry existing washes. Its purpose is to adjust the color and tone of the underlying wash. Non staining, transparent pigments such as Rose Madder (or Permanent Rose), Cobalt Blue and Auroline are ideal for glazing as they can be applied layer after layer to achieve the desired effect. Be sure each layer is thoroughly dry before applying the next.

Wet in Wet
Wet in wet is simply the process of applying pigment to wet paper. The results vary from soft undefined shapes to slightly blurred marks, depending on how wet the paper is. The wet in wet technique can be applied over existing washes provided the are thoroughly dry. Simply wet the paper with a large brush and paint into the dampness. The soft marks made by painting wet in wet are great for subtle background regions of your painting.

Dry Brush
Dry brush is the almost the opposite watercolor technique to wet in wet. Here a brush loaded with pigment (and not too much water) is dragged over completely dry paper. The marks produced by this technique are very crisp and hard edged. They will tend to come forward in your painting and so are best applied around the centre of interest

Dry brush gives crisp, sharp details

Lifting Off
Most watercolor pigment can be dissolved and lifted off after it has dried. Staining colors such as Phthalo or Prussian Blue, Alizarin, Windsor Red, Yellow or Blue are difficult to remove and are best avoided for this technique. The process for lifting off is simple - wet the area to be removed with a brush and clean water then blot the pigment away with a tissue. Using strips of paper to mask areas of pigment will produce interesting hard edged lines and shapes

The foreground shadow was lifted off so as not to draw too much attention

Dropping in Color
This technique is simply the process of introducing a color to a wet region of the painting and allowing it to blend bleed and feather without interruption. The result is sometimes unpredictable but yields interesting and vibrant color gradations that cant be achieved by mixing the pigment on the palette.

The soft Burnt Sienna suggestion of a bush was dropped in while this area was still very wet

Personification @ 9:29 PM

What is personification?

The endowment of inanimate objects or abstract concepts with animate or living qualities. A figure of speech in which ideas are represented as as a person or creature and attributed with personality and human characteristics.

It may apply to :

A description of an object as being a living person or animal as in: "The sun shone brightly down on me as if she were shining for me alone". In this example the sun is depicted as if capable of intent, and is referenced with the pronoun "she" rather than "it".

An outstanding example of a quality or idea: "He's invisible, a walking personification of the Negative" (Ralph Ellison).

An artistic representation of an abstract quality or idea as a person, for example the four cardinal virtues or nine Muses.

Here are some examples :

The sun kissed the flowers.
The wind was whistling.
The grass was dancing.
The car was humming.
The washer gurgled the detergent.
The computer began to talk.
Opportunity began to knock on my door

✎ Exhibit #1 (Individual Work)
Tribute to mother
Part A [ Poem ] :

Remembering your love towards me,

Only one that I truly love and care,

She's one of the few things in my life that can never be replaced,

Even if she no longer exist.

You're like a rose that has been planted in my heart since the day i was born,
You said you are not pretty anymore,
In my heart, you're always a beautiful rose.

Watching me growing up,
You told me you're getting older each day,
In my heart , you're always a young rose that never wilts,

As technology gets more advanced.
you told me that you're technology handicap,
In my heart, it doesn't matter,
You're always a capable rose.

I am never jealous of others,
I already had the best rose,
I don't need any other things.

I have a thousand thanks to say to you,
I'm grateful for all the times,
you healed my hurts,
and calmed my fears,
so that I could face the world,
feeling safe and secure.

Your sacrifices and unselfishness,
Your encouragement and praises ,
Your cuteness and humourous,
gave me joy , laughter and fun,
You gave so much for me,
sometimes at your expenses,
You are my teacher,
my comforter, my encourager,
the one who care for me the most,
the one who appreciate me the most,
and the one who forgive me the most,

Sometimes I took you for granted,
but I will never again.

Thanks for everything, mother.
You're the best rose ever.

I LOVE YOU FOREVER AND EVER .

Part B [ Painting ] :

In the painting is a rose that represents my mother, in my heart, she is as beautiful as the rose and that she doesn't withers, also as young as ever. She's a rose that gave me happiness, love and warmth. She's my everything. And hence, I would like to thank her.

Tribute To Mother

Poem:

She's the best mother in the world,
Unable to replace her with any other,
Naturally shines on me just like a guardian angel.

Love is a camera,
Full of memories between you and me.
The happy moments we shared together would always be right beside me.
You're like my lights,
Lighting up my path of darkness.
You're like the Sun,
Giving me warm and comfort.
You're as patient as a Saint,
Offering me advice when I need them most.
I know how much you care,
Even though I might not say.
I appreciate for all you have sarcrifice,
And I would like to say,
Thank you ♥

Painting:

Short Description
This painting has a carnation, which represents myself as well as a Sun, which represents my mother. I choose to draw a carnation as it's name means "flower of love", which also signifies fascination, distinction, and love. The Sun gives out heat and light. Therefore, my mother who is always there for me would protect me and give me warm and comfort whenever I need just like the Sun.

She protects us from the cold wind
through all seasons.

She protects us from monsters,

You will never be cold in the safe room,

You will never be lonely
because she spreads her love.

Impressionism @ 10:04 PM

Impressionism
Impressionism was a 19th-century art movement that began as a loose association of Paris-based artists whose independent exhibitions brought them to prominence in the 1870s and 1880s. The name of the movement is derived from the title of a Claude Monet work, Impression, Sunrise which provoked the critic Louis Leroy to coin the term in a satiric review published in Le Charivari.
